GI Bionics was established in 2015 in San Diego California as R&D company with special focus on diagnostics and therapeutic devices for the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Innovations from GI Bionics are based on novel ideas from active participation in medical research to provide deep insight into GI physiology and pathophysiology.

GI Bionics fosters an innovative research environment with a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to the discovery process – bringing together physical and life science researchers, clinicians, engineers, and computational scientists to address significant health care challenges of gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders through a multi-scale understanding of organ systems.

GI Bionics has several medical devices in the pipeline including Fecobionics, the multimodal probe (EndoXcite) and various obesity treatments.
